This past month at Makilas has been a very rewarding time for our fighters and competitors. The #ATeam brought home some amazing and hard earned wins, medals and belts in the cage, the ring and on the mat.

This week, Anderson’s Martial Arts NYC Brings Home 3 Impressive Muay thai Wins, Including The WKA Belt!
A Word To Our Entire Silat Community
Martial arts is a give-give relationship that we all (martial artists, Makalis family members) have with each other.  It’s an unspoken language, a look, a connection. A feeling few would notice, unless they are built like us; from a rare steel, molded in a fire that burns with the pure desire to both give and take of the world equally, without guilt and without greed – for our glory, and the glory of those we love. To test the potential of our human spirit. We strive for goals that go beyond the material wealth of men, the aesthetic ideals of society and the general needs of the world. It’s a fire that stays logged in the belly only because of the people that surround us.
AMAA Fighters, Students, Competitors Remember: It’s not your wins that make us smile, it’s each of your hearts. We love you like family.

April 2015

As many of you know a part of the Anderson’s team embarked on a journey to the WKA national championships in Virginia this weekend.

So, if you needed a reason to call your team mates and fellow martial artists the top martial arts gym and training facility in NYC- this can be it

The team goes every year, helping our new fighters fulfill their competition goals, put their training to the test and also gain valuable experience for those hoping to continue in a potential fight career. Some of our more experienced fighter also go to continue to gain experience in the open class divisions.

This year eight fighters and seven coaches and staff embarked on our annual journey #WKA #WKAUSA #TeamAMAA.
Makalis took home 9 total wins; a title belt and four gold medals including Muay Thai and MMA.
Two of our fighters also qualified on the world team and are invited to compete in Spain later this year.
We would like to thank everyone, from the competitors, the dedication of the Anderson’s coaching and fight team, the senior staff, and of course our Anderson’s community. Each and every one of you are the thread that connects this family. We all have different goals, but our martial arts lineage and experiences make us a family. From the student that started class yesterday, to the senior student who has been training for a decade – each of you complete this circle, and without your support for AMAA none of this could be possible. Thank you!
